Getting started
Boundary Studio is a desktop app for Windows. It runs Claude through your own Claude Code install and connects to Roblox Studio through its bundled Boundary Forge plugin. Everything runs on your computer.
Requirements
- Windows 10 or 11
- Roblox Studio
- Claude Code, signed in with a Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise), or an Anthropic API key
1. Install Boundary Studio
Download the installer and run it. The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you. Choose More info → Run anyway.
2. Connect Claude Code
Boundary Studio looks for Claude Code automatically: claude on your PATH, ~/.local/bin/claude.exe, an npm global install, or the copy bundled with Claude Desktop.
If it isn’t installed, run the official installer in PowerShell:
irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex
Then sign in once:
claude auth login
You can also click Sign in with Claude on the setup screen. Boundary Studio never reads, copies or stores your Claude credentials.
Using the API instead: open Settings → Inference provider → Anthropic API and enter a key. The key is verified, then encrypted with Windows DPAPI. API usage is billed to the Anthropic Console account that owns the key.
3. Connect Roblox Studio
Nothing to configure. Boundary Studio starts its Boundary Forge server and installs the Studio plugin for you. Open your place in Studio and the Roblox Studio panel shows it connected within a few seconds. If Studio asks, allow the plugin to reach 127.0.0.1.
If you had another Roblox Studio MCP server configured, it is disabled (not deleted) so Claude doesn’t see two overlapping tool sets.
4. Create a project
Create a project for each game from the project switcher in the sidebar:
- Point it at your Rojo or Argon source folder if you have one.
- Turn on Roblox mode for Luau-aware prompts and indexing.
- Add project instructions and verification commands, for example
selene src,stylua --check srcorrojo build -o build.rbxl.
Chat and Core
- Chat is for questions and changes in Studio, with tool cards, approvals and a live plan.
- Core is an autonomous coding agent for a local project folder. It explores, edits files, runs your tests and builds, and only marks work as verified when a check passes.
Permissions
Choose how much the agent can do without asking: Ask first, Accept edits, Auto or Read-only. Destructive commands (push, reset, delete and similar), files that may contain secrets, and anything outside the project folder always ask first.
Usage
The Usage page shows measured token counts for every model call, your Claude plan’s session and weekly usage as reported by Claude Code, cache hit rate, tool calls, and estimated cost from list prices. With Claude Code, cost figures are an API-equivalent value, not a charge.
Licence keys
Paid plans come with a licence key, shown after checkout and sent by email. Enter it under Billing in the app. A key works on one computer at a time. If you move to a new computer, contact us to move it.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Studio panel says not connected | Make sure your place is open in Studio and the Boundary Forge plugin is enabled under Plugins. Restart Studio after the plugin updates. |
| Claude Code not found | Install it with the command above, then reopen Boundary Studio. Check with claude --version. |
| Signed out of Claude | Run claude auth login, or use Sign in with Claude on the setup screen. Check with claude auth status. |
| Stopped at a usage limit | Your Claude plan’s session or weekly limit was reached. Wait for the reset time shown on the Usage page, then press Resume. |
| Licence says in use on another computer | Each key works on one computer at a time. Contact us to move it. |
